Nice to see Bermuda kites getting some attention elsewhere.
In Bermuda, kites plays an important role in the island’s cultural heritage. On Good Friday, Bermudans celebrate with the national flying of kites, because at Easter, kites are associated with the ascension of Christ into heaven. The festival starts at 10:00am at Horseshoe Bay with kite-flying, musical performances, competitions, food, games, and the KiteFest Easter Egg Hunt.
Residents and visitors are invited to celebrate one of the Island’s oldest traditions that “brings people together in the spirit of community and national pride”.
Along with kite flying, there will also be live performances from some of Bermuda’s top entertainers and a competition to find the best fishcake. Other activities include Bermudian games such as marbles, races and the KiteFest Easter Egg Hunt. Games and activities will reward winners with souvenirs and festive party favours.
